We're blown away. My girl and I sat at a neighborhood bar last night watching the orders roll in while ignoring the stumblers, all the blood shot eyes, and the live honky tonk music that ordinarily would have had our boots a' scootin'. We talked about how there is good in the world. How surely there are injustices deeply rooted in both our history as a nation as well as in our present day. Atrocities that get no media attention and never will. I think it's easy to get pulled into the hole of pointing fingers, passing the buck, and...

On how we talk to our children about the catastrophes in our world today, from @together.rising: "When scary things happen, look for the helpers. There will always be helpers. Gender Pay Gap

Gender Pay Gap

Because when we posted about this on Equal Pay Day it became clear that further education is needed. And if we're going to fight this fight together, we need to spread the knowledge. In 2016, which is the last year the government released data on the subject, women who worked full-time, compared with men who also worked full-time, made 20% less in salary. Data for this can be found here.   Sure, this simple statistic does not take into account the factors, i.e. occupation (a teacher does not earn the same as an engineer), education, full time versus part time, region, etc....
